Solution Evaluation Framework: Fit, Dependencies, Risk and Evidence

Apply the FDRE framework to evaluate complete solution paths across fit, dependencies, risk and evidence.

Direct answer

A credible solution evaluation tests outcome fit, enabling dependencies, risk exposure and evidence strength together. One strong dimension should not hide failure in another.

Practical method

The FDRE framework

Evaluate the complete path, including services and operating change.

  1. 01

    Fit

How directly does the path satisfy confirmed needs and outcomes?

  2. 02

    Dependencies

What data, skills, integrations and decisions must be ready?

  3. 03

    Risk

What can fail, who bears the consequence and what treatment is credible?

  4. 04

    Evidence

Which claims are verified, demonstrated, assumed or unknown?

Worked example

Strong fit, fragile dependency

A path fits the workflow but depends on identity data two regions cannot supply. The team can reject, phase or investigate it; the dependency must not disappear beneath a feature score.

Limits and safeguards

What this method cannot guarantee

  • Evidence and operating conditions can change; revisit the record when a material input changes.
  • This method structures evidence and judgement; accountable people still make and own the final decision.
